Perth Zoo Function Centre

The new Zoo Function Centre and Café provides an elegant and sophisticated experience for patrons via a series of external events spaces, courtyards and dining terraces which have activated and rejuvenated the Zoo as a key tourist destination.  The diversity of spaces caters to groups of all sizes and patrons of all abilities, providing inclusive design and amenity for all.

Drawing inspiration from the Zoo’s lush botanical planting and diverse landscape character types, the landscape design is respectful of and complements Perth Zoo’s heritage, showcasing the iconic landscapes associated with Perth Zoo.

Key design features of the Function Centre area include:

• A distinctive new main entry on Labouchere Road.          
• A welcome courtyard pre-event space designed for patrons to socialise prior to entering the internal spaces and gardens beyond.
• The Function Centre lawn is imagined as a green extension of the interior focusing on a raised timber stage and transplant Moringa tree focal point.
• The incorporation of the heritage listed century-old Carousel and surrounding mature Poincianas into a new landscape setting.
• New planting around the Function Centre replicates the existing lush botanical planting of the Zoo to ensure seamless integration;
