The newly completed Bluestone Park is the centrepiece of Satterley Property Group’s emerging Bluestone community in Tarneit. The park draws strongly from the history of the landholding which was formerly home to horse trotting facilities and agistment areas. Significant and targeted earthworks have created topographical interest to an otherwise flat site. A major community shade structure that echoes the former stables is perched in an elevated position, welcoming visitors to Bluestone whilst allowing for views across the large playground and further to the waterway beyond. City glimpses are also possible from various vantage points across the park. The park is framed by reconstructed stone walls and rural stud fencing.
The playground is home to a major tower again inspired by the history of the site and the former watch tower that existed on the property many years ago. Surrounding the tower are a series of informal natural play elements, swings and rockers highlighted with flashes of blue. A looping path in the form of a trotting track allows for small scall bike riding and scootering for the younger kids. A large multi sports court reflective of the Bluestone theme provides a dynamic and varied active space for people of all ages. Ample grass space allows for further recreational opportunities and flexible community use.
The park will provide a valuable and lasting space for the Bluestone community for many years to come.
