PLAN E has played a key role in the development of the Ellenbrook Town Centre since 2004, working closely with the interdisciplinary project team and the client to create a vibrant and legible town centre with a strong civic core and a diverse range of public spaces and amenities. In 2011 Ellenbrook Management Pty Ltd commenced a planning review of the northern expansion of the Town Centre, As part of this exercise, we were commissioned by LWP to produce the Town Centre Style Manual, which defines the vision and theming for the town centre, and establishes the guidelines and materials for the public realm, as well as the style and theming for the built form.

The core theme for the town centre references the Ellen Stirling story, with the public realm and built form inspired by historical references, styles and materials from her rich early colonial heritage in a contemporary interpretation, with brick being a signature element. The Town Centre contains elements of surprise and discovery to reflect the spirit of Ellen Stirling, not only in the layout but also in the treatment of spaces and buildings.
