PLAN E’s Melbourne office reaches its first birthday

As PLAN E’s Melbourne office reaches its first birthday, we sat down with Director, Adam Lange to chat about how it has gone.

Tell us about your most rewarding moment in the last 12 months.

I’ll keep it general because I’ve found the whole journey so far to be incredibly rewarding whilst acknowledging that there there is much more to be done and many more opportunities in the future to provide places that inspire people and respect the natural, cultural and historical environment we live in. In a nutshell, meeting and working with new people in a new environment on great projects.

Who have you enjoyed working with since relocating to Melbourne?

I have been fortunate enough to work with some really inspiring and driven people and groups. We’ve had a lot of fun to date working with a number of clients including Satterley Property Group, Villawood, Cedar Woods, Peet Ltd, Hygge and Avid Property Group amongst others as well as consultants such as Cossill and Webley, Niche Planning, Roberts Day Group, VIA Architects, Knowles Group and Hygge. I’ve also relished the opportunity to work with the teams at various local authorities including Hume, Whittlesea, Casey, and Cardinia.

In addition to this, I’ve had the fortune to meet and work with a great group on the UDIA Built Form and Public Realm committee which is something that I am passionate about.

What has your favourite project been so far?

Hard to nail it down to one but a few stand out for different reasons. Botanical for SPG is a fantastic site with a great opportunity to create a community connected by public open space and respectful of the local flora and cultural history.

Coridale for Villawood is another project that has provided a wonderful opportunity to draw upon the local culture, history, and geography of a site located within close proximity of the Geelong coast and You Yangs.

Mollymook Aged Care for Knowles Group/Arcare has given us the opportunity to delve into an aged care site and provide a unique, varied and accessible landscape for the residents.

St Helena for SPG is another truly unique site with topographical challenges and opportunities that will allow us to work closely with the team to develop innovative and creative solutions.

What are PLAN E Victoria’s goals for the second half of 2019?

To continue to grow our Melbourne studio as we work tirelessly and collaboratively with our clients and consultants to create great places on a variety of projects in a number of different sectors including land development, education, aged care, and urban…and to have a good time doing it. We are also looking for an experienced Landscape Architect to join the team. If you or someone you know may be interested, please contact me on
