Recent Project: Ellenbrook Town Centre

My passion for the environment stems to my earliest memories. Growing up in 3 continents, early on I developed a deep love and appreciation of the vastly different landscapes I experienced, both natural and man-made. This passion inspired me to become a landscape architect. I believe good landscape architecture should enhance the intrinsic qualities and character of a place, treating it with respect and sensitivity, so that the user subconsciously understands that the new landscape “feels right” and belongs there. Users should enjoy a sense of anticipation, discovery and surprise, and experience feelings of pleasure, joy and well-being. As a landscape architect, I strive to deliver these outcomes for my clients and the end user, with a fervent desire to leave a lasting legacy.

John has been a practicing Landscape Architect since 1980 in Australia and overseas. His experience in both private and government sector work includes a broad range of Landscape Architecture projects, particularly landscape planning and design related to the land development sector, ranging from urban design focused new town developments to environmental restoration projects. John’s reputation in his profession was recognised in 2013 when he was made a Fellow of the Institute of Landscape Architects.

Andrew Baranowski
Director

Recent Project: Scarborough Beach Pool

Creating inspiring places that connect people to their environment is what drives me as a landscape architect. The idea is to transform the places in which we work, live and recreate to bring new life to urban areas and help foster a sense of community. A well designed landscape space can create a shared sense of identity and belonging, helping bring people together and shape local identity and character. I enjoy working in a true collaboration, particularly at the design stages. Working closely with other design professionals allows us to think about how landscape can be fully integrated into the built form. There’s a combined vision that we work on together that covers all materials, as well as the look and the feel of the project. Collaboration and respect for each other’s ideas go hand in hand and that’s why I believe projects are successful.

With over 30 years of experience as a landscape architect, Andrew is the Design Director of the PLAN E practice. Andrew has a contagious enthusiasm and an innovative approach which visibly translates into his projects. Andrew’s particular expertise is in the design of large-scale urban, commercial and land development projects where community involvement is a major factor.

David Smith

Recent Project: Rio Tinto Naturescape (Stage 2)

As a Landscape Architect, I believe I am a catalyst in the creation of multi-dimensional and visionary spaces that exceed the dreams of my clients and the wider community. I believe, as designers, it is our job to create dynamic, inspiring and transformative human spaces with meaning and social relevance. I have a strong belief in quality and socially sustainable site and community driven design solutions, something my long-standing creative association with Kings Park demonstrates with successes that include the Botanic Terraces, State Reception Centre, Rio Tinto Naturescape and Place of Reflection projects. My 20 year continuous association with Kings Park demonstrates well my collaborative approach and dedication to creating transformative projects of great social relevance.

As a director, project manager and designer, with 31 years of experience as a landscape architect, David has multiple awards and published projects to his name. With management experience gained in the public and private sectors, David’s additional strengths include project programming and procurement, and a comprehensive knowledge of construction across many disciplines.

Jules Bulleid
Associate Contract Administrator

Recent Project: The Brook, Byford

There is great satisfaction in being on site the day we “break ground” on a project, and then watching it come to life. Months of work going into managing the project with the contractor, resolving site issues, fine tuning details and assuring the highest quality of workmanship is achieved, is rewarded when a special space is created for the community. The making of beautiful and enjoyable spaces for people to come together in is a privilege. I am delighted to return to these projects and see children learning while they play, families enjoying time together outdoors and special moments when communities to come together. Our projects enrich these experiences for people, which is a source of great pride for me.

Kirsten Dawson

There is nothing more rewarding than seeing people enjoying themselves with family and friends in a landscape you have helped create. Being outdoors has so many therapeutic benefits, so why wouldn’t you want to be involved in designing spaces that encourage people to get out in the fresh air and enjoy the beautiful city we live in?

Michael Pearce

Sarah Cooney

Well, to put it quite simply, who doesn’t love to be outdoors? The amazing mix of nature, the environment, the sun and sky, wildlife, trees, ecosystems, plants, the beauty, freedom and openness of the “outdoors”. It is a privilege to be able to design and mould the development of “space” for a variety of purposes. To accommodate a variety of users and bring a sense of wellbeing to those who venture outside. To be a landscape architect allows me to create outdoor space that brings joy to others.

Ryan Lucy
Landscape Architect

Recent Project: The Brook, Byford

As a landscape architect I look at facilitating the best use of the everyday spaces people visit; shining light on the existing character of place through design; and enhancing the shared experience of place(s) through well considered interventions. I have a passion for the environment, both built and planted, as live and breathing places we create; plant life forming a central role in the quality of outcomes we help in realising.

Nicholas Pierson
Landscape Architect

Recent Project: Katanning Welcome Precinct

The places that we inhabit, move through and experience every day are an opportunity to inspire, excite and beyond all create a strong connection between us and our environment. As a landscape architect, the desire to create places that evoke the environmental, social and contextual characteristics unique to every site and through design create spaces that are engaging, distinctive and relate to their specific spatial environment drives me. For myself, landscape architecture is more a process than an outcome involving collaboration with stakeholders, local population and other design professionals to create places that bring excitement, anticipation and enjoyment to the end user in a sustainable and humanistic way.

Connor Wilson – Puhara
Junior Landscape Architect

Recent Project: Rio Tinto Naturescape,
Kings Park

My passion for Landscape Architecture thrived as a young man growing up in the green backyards of New Zealand. This relationship with the land lead me to believe that a successful design encourages interactions with both the physical and cultural environment. To be a part of a company such as Plan E that creates spaces for people of all backgrounds is a real pleasure

Tarinee Shaw
Junior Landscape Architect

As a recent graduate of Landscape Architecture, landscapes have always been of interest to me from an environmental, cultural and social perspective. With a multi-faceted approach in mind, I take interest in how best to fuse landscape elements to seamlessly integrate the natural environment with the built world, whilst sustaining the underlying connection between man and nature. As a profession that crosses and collaborates with many disciplines, I believe that landscape architects have the ability to address the challenges of a contemporary society through landscapes that are aesthetically, functionally and environmentally responsive.

Daniel Willis
Senior Landscape Technician

Recent Project: DPAW Lookout tower, Bunbury

Being passionate about creativity and attention to detail is essential for bringing these projects to life. Using 3D modelling we can envision the potential of a project. Seeing the project go from concept, through design and documentation to seeing the end product is incredibly rewarding.
